Bluett & O'Donoghue Architects

We are an RIAI Grade 1 Accredited Practice in Conservation Architecture.

As Conservation Architects, we adhere to Best Practice and to the International Conventions and Charters governing Conservation Architecture and we design and specify interventions which respect the character and special interest of the historic buildings we work on.

We have experience across a broad range of building types from Recorded Monuments to Georgian Country Houses, to important 19th Century Churches and Public Buildings. However, we are also routinely engaged on modest traditional and vernacular structures of 18th or 19th century origin benefiting from grant assistance from Local Authorities or Amenity Societies. We have particular expertise in Fire Engineering for historic structures and we can marry conservation objectives and fire safety issues in a sensitive manner.

We also design extensions, infill development and new buildings within the curtilage or attendant grounds of Protected Structures while having regard to the special character and setting of the historic building.

We prepare independent Architectural Heritage Impact Assessments to accompany applications for Planning Permission by other architectural practices and we manage Conservation Grant Schemes on behalf of Local Authorities.
